More Wedding Flowers

Yesterday I posted a few of my daughters’ wedding flowers.  The flowers are all garden flowers from a variety of gardens. Here are a few more. First I’ll show you the cake which was flavoured with home made rose water and decorated with roses and strawberries from the garden.

And of course you have to see the bride’s bouquet of peonies, roses, pink gypsophila and ammi.

As the sun went down on this magical Midsummer Nights’ Eve we enjoyed a lovely sky and the beautiful view over the fields.

When darkness fell the young couple’s beautiful garden was transformed into fairyland.

It was the most beautiful wedding I’ve ever been to. And of course, the loveliest, nicest couple I’ve ever seen married.

It looks wonderful…and what beautiful flowers. My Mum and I made my sister’s wedding bouquet and table flowers – it was such a lovely thing to do together, and my sister loved them. Looks like you had a fantastic day, congratulations to the happy couple!

  2. Debra says:

It really does look like a fairy tale setting. So beautiful ….

    • Chloris says:

Their garden is lovely and having it all lit up made it look quite magical. The views are fantastic specially as my son in law took out the hedge so we were able to watch a wonderful sunset and enjoy the view.

  3. Pauline says:

The wedding flowers are so beautiful, the brides bouquet divine and the table flowers so pretty, you did a wonderful job! June must be the best month to have a wedding with so many flowers to choose from. It sounds as if you all had a wonderful day.

    • Chloris says:

Thank you Pauline. Yes, June flowers are perfect for a wedding. Peonies and roses were lovely for the bouquet although the peonies had to be kept in the fridge for a week to keep them fresh. The rose is Ebbtide which is a gorgeous colour. She had the same rose in her hair.

  4. Jane Strong says:

So heart-warming to see loving care taken rather than money spent. I like most the photo with the luminarias and the starry lights … well, really I like all the bouquets and the cake, too. All on a Midsummer Night’s Eve how special is that?

    • Chloris says:

The lights were so pretty. The ones dangling from trees were sweet but I also liked the lights in paper bags lining the path. It was a perfect warm evening. We don’ t get evenings like that very often here. It was very special.

  5. mrsdaffodil says:

Love the bride’s bouquet, and the “glory holes” of the sun streaming through the clouds.

    • Chloris says:

Thank you, the peonies for the bouquet spent a week in the fridge to stop them from going over. My new son in law actually cut down the hedge so that we could enjoy the wonderful view from the marquee.

  6. Julie says:

That cake is divine – did you make that? I love all the garden flowers in these bouquets – so much nicer than the often pristine but sterile professional arrangements seen at weddings. It looks like a day full of magical memories.

    • Chloris says:

My daughter made the cake herself. It was delicious. The flowers were fantastic. Some of them came from a lady at Lindsey who grows them to sell. I could give you her address if you ever needed lots. I don’ t suppose you do though with your lovely cutting garden.

      • Julie says:

Actually I would love her address – I am helping with flowers for a wedding in September and we will need to buy in some extra supplies.

  7. Everything is just stunning! Your lucky daughter has a beautiful garden too! It must have been the most amazing day – definitely not easily forgotten. And the flowers just make it! I love the way each arrangement is so different and individual – without an overall “theme”, other than beautiful home grown flowers. Even the cake plays its part. A definite fairy tale!

    • Chloris says:

It was indeed a fairytale wedding. My daughter was keen to have a real country wedding with a homemade cake and jugs of garden flowers on each table. It worked really well.

  8. Anna says:

Now that cake looks simply too good to eat Chloris and the bride’s bouquet is exquisite. It sounds and looks as if you had a simply magical day and the weather gods smiled down benignly on such an auspicious occasion.

  9. Cathy says:

The flowers are all so lovely – all the traditional favourites, and all seasonal. Gorgeous arrangements too! I love the look of that cake Chloris – I bet that disappeared quickly! The evening photos are just magical – looks like you all had a wonderful celebration. 🙂

  10. Cathy says:

It’s so wonderful for a couple to choose not only to have their reception at home but to have flowers from gardens to furnish their day as well – but if you have a lovely garden to begin with then that’s a good start. Midsummer’s Eve, glorious weather, beautiful setting, lovely flowers, you for a mother/m-in-law… what more could a couple want on their wedding day? 🙂 Have you come to earth yet, i wonder?

    • Chloris says:

Thank you Cathy what a lovely thing to say. It was all perfect. The flowers were all gorgeous and the setting is idyllic. But to have perfect weather as well was wonderful. That is something you can’ t rely on in this country. We struck very lucky.

  11. Kris P says:

The bouquet, the flowers, and the setting are all beautiful. And that’s my kind of cake!

    • Chloris says:

My daughter made the cake herself. She was a bit worried that it looked a bit like the leaning tower of Pisa but I think that was part of its charm. It is an idyllic setting for a wedding.

  12. Annette says:

Stunning flower arrangements and decorations, Chloris, they make me want to marry again! I also like the candles in the paper bags. Well done, no wonder you’re thrilled 🙂

  13. AnnetteM says:

Wow – that looks a really special day. The flower arrangements are stunning, especially the bouquet. The garden in the evening is truly magical – I am so glad you had good weather.

    • Chloris says:

Thank you Annette, yes she has a wonderful garden and she works very hard in it. The flowers did look stunning. She has a very talented friend who did the bouquet. The roses were Ebbtide. We saw them at a rose nursery and when the owner heard us talking about them, he kindly offered to pick a bunch for us from his rose fields. All we had to do was pick them up the day before. It is a lovely colour.

  14. croftgarden says:

Thank you. I think you have sent all the gardening community weak at the knees and dewy eyed with romance. You should be very proud of your efforts and I hope that you will be smiling for the rest of the summer.

  15. Chloris says:

Yes there is nothing like a wedding where the couple are so lovely and so happy to be together. My daughter did all the hard work and preparation, all I did was help her get the garden looking good and help her with some of the flower arrangements. She has been planning it all for months.

  16. Christina says:

How wonderful to have do many garden flowers, so often florists flowed are do stiff and formal while these are a delight. Many good wishes to the happy couple and I’m glad you enjoyed the day too.

    • Chloris says:

Thank you Christina. It was a lovely day and the garden flowers were wonderful. The peonies and Rosa Ebbtide in her bouquet were gorgeous. The peonies had to be kept in the fridge for a week to stop them going over.

  17. How lovely. Actually — wow! Congrats to the young couple and their families.

  18. bittster says:

Wow! I thought the first set of photos was good, these are exceptional! Looks like it was an amazing day, glad it al worked out so well.

  19. Chloris says:

Thank you Frank it was a wonderful day. The flowers worked really well.

  20. What a delightful read! A truly magical wedding & a very special couple. Thoroughly enjoying your blog. The flowers were a joy to work with, I’ve never been more terrified of snapping the 6ft tall deep violet delphiniums! Britt x

  21. Chloris says:

And thank you again Britt for the amazing work you did with the flowers. Those big arrangements with the gorgeous delphiniums were breathtaking. I absolutely loved the bride’s posy. In fact it all looked fabulous and the flowers played such a big part in making it all look wonderful.
You are right it was a magical day.
I am glad you like my blog.x

  22. What a great delight to share a portion of your joyful family celebration! June 21st was my 34th wedding anniversary. Best wishes to the golden girl and wee man for a long and happy union.
